Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Balancing the Dialectic of Acceptance and Change
DBT is a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment originally developed to treat individuals with chronic suicidal thoughts and self-harm. It has since been proven effective for a wide range of conditions including borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and emotion dysregulation.
At Wise Mind Collective, DBT treatment includes four core skill modules: Mindfulness (staying present and grounded), Distress Tolerance (surviving crisis without making it worse), Emotion Regulation (understanding and managing intense feelings), and Interpersonal Effectiveness (communicating needs while maintaining relationships).
Dr. Walsh is certified and intensively trained in DBT. Treatment may include individual therapy, virtual skills groups, phone coaching, and therapist consultation team support.

Core Skills of DBT
-
Enhance your Mindfulness Skills by learning a structured and step-wise approach to living with intention, in the present moment, without judgement.
-
We all have had moments in our “red zone”, when we act on our emotions, and engage in actions we wish we could change. Learn skills based in neurobiology on how to respond when emotions are heightened.
-
Emotion Regulation Skills will help you build a life worth living by understanding your emotions, giving targeted strategies to reduce your vulnerabilities, and active steps to change how you feel in a given moment.
-
Humans are social creatures. Find research strategies to learn how to effectively communicate to build environments that are right for you.
