A licensed clinical psychologist serving teens and adults across New Jersey and New York. I founded Wise Mind Collective because I believe everyone deserves access to therapy that actually works. My approach to treatment is warm, direct, and collaborative. I believe that the function of therapy is to give each person the tools to build a life worth living.

I have specialized experience treating various presentations including anxiety, trauma, suicidality, self-injury, mood disorders, and complex eating disorders amongst teens and young adults. Whether you are seeking services for yourself, a loved one, as a couple, or as a family, I am here to support you with compassion, mindful attention, and extensive training in gold standard interventions.

Hi, I’m, Shannon Cohen.

The Approach

My approach is grounded in evidence-based methods like DBT, CBT, and ERP, combined with genuine compassion and a deep respect for each person's unique journey. Whether you're navigating anxiety, life transitions, or something you can't quite name yet, I'm here to help you build the skills and clarity to move forward.

I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is Board Certified in DBT through the Linehan Board of Certification (DBT-LBC™) and Level 2 trained in Radically Open DBT (RODBT). I am also formally trained in several Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatments including:

  • Exposure Therapy for OCD and social anxiety

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for generalized anxiety and depression

  • Family Based Treatment (FBT), DBT, CBT-E for children and adults with anorexia/bulimia

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety, depression and chronic pain.

Regarding trauma treatment, I utilize evidence-based interventions depending on the presenting symptoms including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).
